This painting was inspired from our former pond at the end of fall. I wanted to express the poignant feeling I get at the end of a growing season. All the leaves are bare and the brambles at the pond’s edge are a tangled mess. I sculpted the brambles in the forefront with acrylic gesso after I applied an underpainting. Soft pastel pigment was applied on top of the gesso. There is a poem I wrote that echoes my feelings of this november landscape:
The path we walk in a dream of bittersweet joy, there are memories of may down the river run, as the garden gate opens to sands of time, in nature’s way, this november, you are by my side, in the after hours
